Its one must visit place in Munnar. The usual Munnar tourist places are already overcrowded nowadays and not recommended. Meesapulimal is also getting transferred to the above state and more human access has resulted in more and more littering of the place and even on the top of the hill you cannot see any green grass at all and all of it has gone due to more and more people summiting it.
The trek is lovely, going up into the hills above the tea plantations into the protected forest area. The rhododendrons were just finishing, osbeckia reticulata were blooming and the hypericum were just starting to bloom. The guide,Sebinster Francis, knew all the birds from their songs, and pointed many out hopping in the dense branches. Roughly half the hike was through the tea plantations, emerald green bushes in undulating lines through rolling hills.
